ABORTION- A WOMAN’S PERSONAL CHOICE

Abortion, in my eyes, is one of the most controversial issues to talk about and has been that way for many years. Many people see it as a horrible thing to “abort” a baby. If you think about it an abortion can only be done with the baby hasn’t even began to actually develop yet so technically, you’re not “taking away” somebodies life. I believe that abortion is acceptable and it’s up to the WOMAN impregnated to decide what she wants to do with the undeveloped baby. People criticize others for the actions they take when in actuality they are the ones who should be condemned for their own statements against the subject. Abortion, when you go to the right place, is a very safe medical procedure and usually only done within the first trimester of a woman’s pregnancy. In case you weren’t aware, during the first trimester, the baby cannot survive outside of the womb, classifying them as dependent and not technically an actual living being yet. There are many ups and downs regarding this particular topic but either way, it’s up to the woman to make the choice of what she wants to do with the baby.
Below is a link that provides 10 reasons for pro-abortion and 10 for pro-life.

As said in the link above, abortion is connected to a woman’s CIVIL RIGHTS! It is absolutely, under any circumstance regarding this topic not okay to take away a woman’s or anybody else’s civil rights! If you don’t agree with abortion, it’s not only you that matters. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, with their opinion they must take action to abort or keep the baby and nobody should be able to tell them different.
There are many cases in which a woman may be raped or a victim of another sexual harassment leaving them impregnated. In those cases it is absolutely not their fault that they got pregnant so you can’t blame them for irresponsibility. If a woman chooses to keep the baby and love it, so let it be; if she chooses to abort the baby, then that’s her choice not to live with an unplanned pregnancy.

Teens also face many controversies with abortion. Yes, I believe that often, teens are irresponsible and shouldn’t have sex if they can’t deal with the consequences. If they believe that abortion is the right thing to do, they too should do what they want. In many cases, families pressure young teens into abortion, which I believe is wrong. I think that yes, they should discuss the issue with their parents but ultimately do what they feel is right. Having a baby can put such a big hold back on one’s life. You can’t really stay in school, you’ll have to go on maternity leave, and then be behind in your classes. Abortion can prevent all of that from happening and cause the girl to continue with her life. After that, they most likely will be very cautious not to do the same thing again.

Did you ever think about women with physical disabilities/illnesses?  Personally I know a grown, married woman who suffered from severe complications of being pregnant. She became pregnant, and the doctor told her that most likely, she and the baby would die if she continued carrying the baby. Her only choice was to get an abortion. She did what she felt was right and received one. I consider her brave for making such a complicated decision. In this situation she also had to deal with being there for her husband and adopted son. In my eyes, she did the right thing.

No matter what, people will always have their own opinions regarding this subject. Nobody should be held criticized for the decisions they choose to make.

  1. I agree that everyone has their own opinion on abortion. Mine is the opposite of yours. I don't think it's right. Also because a women can face complications of being able to give birth if she tries after an abortion. Abortion also causes issues with the woman who decided to get one and many people become mentally messed up because of it.

  2. What you say is valid and your entitled to your own decision which clearly you have expressed. Everybody should express how they feel and you have!

  3. A new life begins as soon as egg is fertilized and a human being is created. As soon as this happens everything counts the baby can;t speak out for it's self but am sure it would have wanted an opportunity to live. Yes in certain cases abortion is a great option if the women's life is in danger but if your not willing to take responsibility then you should not even have sex at all. If people let teenagers get a abortion when ever they want then they will keep doing it because they think there not hurting anyone there are more options then abortion like adoption someone out there would want your baby

  4. Michael, Michael, Michael. You seem to have A LOT to say about everything but yet whatever anybody else says is invalid. Perhaps you should seek becoming a more optimistic person and, instead of thinking that your OPINION is the only right one, listen to other people’s opinions.
When you bring Hitler into this, please write his name instead of, a gentleman in Germany. If you’re comparing me to Hitler you’ve blown this blog way out of proportion. If you knew the slightest bit about me, you would understand my hatred toward Hitler and for you to compare me to him, is rude and idiotic.
And you may not be able to determine who does and does not have the right to live but the women who chose to have an abortion DO which you seem incapable to understand.
    I. DO. NOT. THINK. THAT. ABORTION. IS. MURDER. There is a right to abortion and it’s the individuals right, not what arrogant fools like yourself deem to everybody else. Just because you say something isn’t a right, doesn’t mean it’s not.
You seem to ignore the fact of women constantly being RAPED! What about then? Should you keep the baby even if you cannot afford the expenses that come along? Or, is that an irresponsible person taking the easy way out because they were irresponsibly held down and raped??!! (I’m sure you’ll count the number of exclamation points and question marks like you always do).
Profanity is a part of me, I curse a lot and I’ll admit it but nobody’s changing that. If you are offended by it while reading my blog then simply don’t read it.
If my mother chose to have an abortion she would be the only one able to make that decision and there is absolutely nothing anybody else could do about it. But, lets not bring mothers into this.
Eugenics has nothing to do with this topic in my eyes; it’s irrational to classify abortion as being a certain group of people since they haven’t developed into humans yet. But thanks!

Oh, and look up abortion clinic bombings, you’ll find that most of the bombings are done by those who don’t support abortion. How ironic that they don’t support abortion but yet they are killing undeveloped babies and the mothers!

  5. Hey Anthony, I just happened to stumble across this blog, and I wanted to chip in.

First, you say that fertilized eggs haven't yet developed into humans: perhaps it's just your terminology that's incorrect, but it's absolutely true that human life begins at conception. There are forty-six chromosomes at the moment of conception, detailing eye color, height, gender, and aspects of the personality that aren't influenced by surroundings.

You also say that it's okay to abort babies because they aren't developed/developing yet. The word you use is "undeveloped", which scientifically speaking is incorrect as well, though, again, it may just be a terminology error on your part. After conception, the new embryo "freezes" it's outside so that no more sperm can get in, and then begins to split into different cells and grow. There is no point in time where a new baby isn't developing.

This brings up another point, and a question: when do you believe abortion becomes unacceptable? I don't think you specified, though you made it clear that first trimester is fine. And why does it at that point become murder?

You also mention as a reason for the acceptability of (early) abortions is that the babies can't survive on their own. However, this is a moving line, dependent on the development of science. You even say that non-viability "[classifies] them as dependent and not technically an actual living being yet". If dependency is a factor in being a living being, it wouldn't be illegal to kill people with disabilities, as well as young children.

Also, for future reference, arguing that it's a woman's body, therefore a woman's choice, doesn't have any effect on pro-lifers, because as they see it, it's a baby's body that's being dismembered.

One last comment, on the last paragraph in your last comment: You are absolutely right. Pro-"lifers" that do things like clinic bombings and shooting abortionists are a disgrace to the human race, not to mention the rest of the pro-lifers.

    God bless!
